I am an estate planning and elder law attorney. My practice emphasizes wills, trusts, probate, elder law and related litigation.
As an estate planning attorney, I emphasize preventative law through careful document preparation and advice. My passion is helping individuals and families achieve peace of mind by developing and implementing customized, yet cost-effective estate plans. My mission is to make estate planning as accessible and streamlined as possible. My job is to motivate you to express your estate planning goals in order to spare families and business partners from the burdensome and often devastating consequences caused by a lack of planning.
In addition to creating estate plans, I work in the probate arena and assists families in implementing plans when loved ones pass away, and in setting up guardianships for minors, individuals with special needs, and individuals who can no longer manage their own affairs.
The field of estates and trusts law is ideal for me because it is both extremely people-oriented and requires a high degree of technical expertise. I believe that effective estate planning is critical to the financial, physical, and emotional well-being of my clients, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be involved in the process. My aim is to treat you like family, protecting your interests as if they were my own, and making sound recommendations to help you accomplish estate planning goals.
I received an undergraduate degree from Whitman College in 2004 and a JD from University of San Diego (USD) School of Law in 2009. I then attended University of San Diego (USD) School of Law’s LLM program, and was awarded a LLM in Taxation in 2010. I’ve been licensed to practice law in California since 2010 and started the Law Office of Tyler J Claus in Santa Rosa, California in 2016.
Before moving to California, I was admitted to the Washington Bar in 2012 and spent four years working as an estate planning and transaction lawyer in Washington State.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, traveling, and participating in outdoor activities.
